I'd Just be a Catcher in the Rye.

"...and I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff- I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I'd do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all."

When they need someone to break their fall, I catch them.
When they need someone to listen, I catch them.
When they need someone to understand, I catch them.
When they need anything at all, I catch them.

Whenever they have a problem, I catch them. And I try to fix it. But there's only so much I can do.

I'm just a catcher in the rye and all.

  2. Oh sweet pizza monster, a short one.
I like that part where there's only so much he cand do. Without that it's to happy and sounds un-Holden like. Makes it sound like something bad will happen...

  3. I've been enjoyed your blog very much these past few weeks. Your posts are more like poetry or prose than actual journals.

:D Someday I'll see your name in a bookstore.

  4. The poem itself is Holden and everyone else there ever was, is, and will be. This is one of those things that everyone can relate to because everyone has good intentions. They can't do everything but they want to so bad and there is only so much anyone can do.
